I worked at AG-CHEM, in Jackson, MN. welding the rims and the front fork together, years ago, and that is how they widened the rims on the terra-gators, only there was about a 24" spacer that I welded in, they machined the original rim in half, and had a jig that lined up all 3 piece's. It wasn't too fancy, but it worked. Granted these only topped out about 30 - 35 MPH. http://www.terragator.agcocorp.com/
