But hey, I had a '77 Datsun pickup that was my sole transportation for many years, and it served me well. It wasn't great for a large carrying capacity, but it would make light-duty runs all day long. I drove it from El Paso to Michigan twice, and that was when it had something like 130,000 miles. I finally parked it when it had a couple of things go wrong with it (leaky carb, needed new clutch, and something else I can't remember at present), and I had the intention of fixing it, but I never could get the time to do it (by then, I was immersed in the rebuild/restoration of my '49 Power Wagon). While it was parked, the squirrels got under the Datsun's hood and chewed up a bunch of the wiring and hoses and such. At that point, I finally decided to get rid of it. It kind of hurt at the time. It had 168,000 miles on it and ran great, except for a pesky overheating problem that I never could correct. All in all, though, it was quite a good vehicle.
