The Low ratio first gear, with syncros only in 3rd and 4th (wide spaced ratio between 3 and 4) is a 435 D3. However there in much disagreement as to the designation for the other NP435's and I haven't found a difinitive source to explain. The Designations are D1, D2, D3 and D4, it will be noted on the VIN tag, next to the NP435, AND written in a grease pencil on the 435 case "D-3" or whatever it is. Only factory painted, original 435 cases will have the grease pencil markings, otherwise you are back to counting rotations...
