You might have a shorted terminal for the points wire to the coil. Connect it all up and turn the engine till the points open. Touch the arm of the points with one end of the tester and the other end to ground. If it does not light up, your insulation and or points at the terminal are grounding out. Take the point out and do the same test with the square end of the terminal. If it does not light up, that's the problem area
