I am the owner of a 73 dodge d100 PowerWagon. It has the 4speed manual with a divorced transfer case. I bought it back at the end of July, and it has been at the neighbor's shop ever since. When I put it in 4wd it gets very hard to control, it is acting like it has 2 different gear ratio's in the diffs. This has been checked and we have ruled this possiblity out. We have also checked the gears and made sure everything is setup correct. We have also corrected a problem with the drive line angle from a lift that was put on it, and replaced all the U-joints and freshened up almost the entire driveline. However it still gets hard to control in 4wd. Any Ideas? Could it be the transfer case?
