My brother did this to his M-37. He used standard M37 rims, not dual rims, and dualie studs/lug nuts.

Replace the normal lug nuts with dualie studs, then back off 2 of the dualie studs to allow you to mount the outside tires with the dualie lug nuts. Tighten them until you can screw on the other dualie lug nuts, then tighten them all. This squeezes the tires together so that there is no gap like with normal dual rims. He uses 7.50x16 tires, so this is a lot easier than if you are using 9.00x16 tires. I don't think this approach would work with 9.00x16 NDT tires, as the tires may be too stiff to squeeze. Try reducing the air in the tire, it may give you enough room to mount the tires. Maybe someone else has tried this and can give you some advice, otherwise you will have to get actual dualie rims.

He drives only off-road, so no great problem. Defininately helps with floatation on soft ground!
