I think they are a little stronger than the split rims. But they are all very old (only mad during WWII) and usually a little bent. I have seen split rims crack in half right downthe center of the rim. I don't think this would happen with a combat wheel. If you get some and they are bent You can have them straightened. They also look really cool....
