It's the same on either.

They all drive these trucks & know them inside out. One of them could tell you exactly what is entailed to bypass the TPS but it's literally a 10 minute job for any electrical shop & you certainly don't have to install the lever...you could keep the dash switch but it's a bit of a pain reaching for it. Lots of guys install foot operated switches like a dimmer as well.
It's best for your engine to only use your OD when you're on the highway anyways.
Contrary to what most people believe, a Cummins engine should never be run under 2000 rpms & NEVER tow under 2200+.
Cummins themselves consider anything under 1700 luging the engine & a real bad no no, so you'll find keeping in the right RPM range much easier with OD off.
Both my trucks got best fuel economy at 2200...considerably worse at 1800.
