Most guys with First Gen auto's go through the same thing.
I never had one go but what many guys are doing is installing a 1994 gear shift lever.
They have the OD button on the shifter & it's really easy to rewire the dash swith so it still stays lit when the OD is engaged & off when it's out of OD, yet it gets controlled by the shifter button.
New Shifter-$35
Then they bypass the TPS & manually activate the OD whenever they want OD.
Little primative...but so is the rest of the truck!
The reason we love them is because they have very little electronic crap. As you have found, the electronic crap breaks quite frequently so the majority feel it's best to just eliminate it & live without!
I don't believe there is any better TPS made.
