Yes, that's why I typed "small trailer winch" and mentioned a circuit breaker = ). The Ramsey 8000 draws too many amps (30?) to run off of #12, you'd need #10 min., I think the cable that comes with the winch is #8 or #6. I have a Warn trailer winch, that can run off of the #12, it's about 2500 lbs rated and works fine to pull a free rolling PW up the ramp, with maybe two flat tires, anymore resistance than that and it is too small to use. If you do go with a battery, look at the Optima Yellow top, the Optima will survive abuse and neglect, AND you can charge them off of that #12 wire from the Bargman.
