Sorry, I have forgotten... What was the problem, and what kind of truck?

Generally there is a bare copper flexible strap that goes from the frame of a vehicle to the engine block. You can use a regular battery cable, but they tend to be less flexible, because they are round in cross-section, and the heavy insulation makes them even more inflexible.

There is a flat copper strap material made just for this purpose. It's about an inch or so wide, and about a quarter inch thick.

As long as the strap is the equivalent size conductor as a battery cable, it will work. What you are trying to do is to ensure that the negative post of the battery and the frame of the truck (for lights and accessory grounds) and the engine return path for the starter are all tied together.

I once had a sports car that would run perfectly, until I revved it up. Then the engine would die, or sputter until I let it idle again. It was a most difficult problem to solve. This is what I found: The torque of the engine under heavy acceleration would pull the ground strap away from its loose connection at the frame, and the EFI and ignition would loose power, until I took my foot off the gas.
