I have always preffered the foot start for off road performance. Solenoids are a weak link in the starting system. they get hot. the big advantage when off road of having foot start is if your engine dies in the water or you run out of gas or have pluged fuel lines and need to move the vehicle, you can put the truck in gear and drive it on the starter. If you try this with a key start set up you would immediately gnereate much more heat and resiostance to the starter. I have driven half a mile on the pavement in third gear with foot starter and never ever have I had to replace a starter on any of the 12 PWs ive had
