I took my 1961 townwagon on a little drive this past week. I went from Flagstaff, Az to Columbia , Mo and back. It was about 2500 miles round trip. The old truck renewed my love affair with it. It drank a fair amout of gas (10 mpg) and blew about 4 gallons of oil from the intake manifold. I knew about the oil leak, just decided last minute to suprise my son and daughter on their birthday. This is sure a beautiful country to drive through. I went the southern route going (1-40,I-35, I-70) and the northern route returning( I-70 to Colo. 285 S to 160). The fall colors are beginning in the Rockies. The trip was a very special time to enjoy one of the coolest trucks I can ever imagine owning. I've had the TW for almost 3 years and will in all probability own it until I leave the planet.
