Starters: foot pedal vs. key start?

When did the Power Wagon switch to key start? Did that coincide with the change from a 146-tooth to 172-tooth flywheel? What about passenger cars or other Chrysler-powered vehicles?

I have a NOS, solenoid-type starter that fits my ¾-ton WC, but it is missing the solenoid. The solenoid mounts at 5:00 if you are looking toward the back of the vehicle.

If I can find a solenoid, I thought a push-button start might be handy for a trail truck incase you need both feet to work the other pedals. Like say, if the engine died on a Black Bear switchback.

I stole this photo from the Helitool site showing a Power Wagon Starter without the foot pedal.
