Oil grooves go down so the oil drains back into the T case.
Use the high temp red Permatex silicone seal.
Don't use the 3/4" thick Garlock OEM type seals with the rubber and felt seal. Did that and they leaked. I used a modern replacement double lip seal from my local bearing house. (much thinner than the originals.) The metal OD is only 3/8" thick. Not a drop leaked in 4 years! While you're at it, replace the seals on the actuating rods too.
