All the 1/2 ton Dodges up to 1942 (yes I do have a half ton with a '42 DOD on it) had the little square block things, available from Vintage Power Wagons as a deal for all four, I seem to remember. What you are describing seems to be the '42 on standard military guages found in virtually all the production 3/4 tons, as well as jeeps, GMCs and the rest.

It is possible they were fitted to your truck by the military (who else woiuld bother?)and you could leave them there, but a WC 22 would be one of the last series of T215 half tons anyway, and somebody might have been experimenting.

Bottom line would be how neat a job it was I suppose, if they look nice and fit well, and assuming the square dash block holes aren't just left as gaping holes....

On the other hand if they were put in from a distance of ten feet by a lumberjack with a big chisel get them out (carefully) All these would have some resale value, but the most breakable bit would be the temperature sender line on the temp guage - take particular care of that.
