My guess is the float is either sticking or is out of adjustment. If you are going up hills and have more of a problem, the angle of the hill makes the float even more of a problem. The float will cause the truck to flood instead of being starved, but you have to keep giving gas to provide more air. I don't know a way of testing other than opeing the carb.
