Absolutely not!! the paint must be formulated for brushing, not spraying. Normally that would mean an oil based paint, thinned (if necessary) with a turpentine subsitute paint thinner. Boiled linseed oil can be used to lessen the appearance of brush strokes (smooth out the surface) but any additive should be used with caution because there are always side effects (such as making the paint too transparent and reducing its ability to cover).

As always it is a bad idea to opt for bargain paint.

A general rule is that if the paint is well manufactured and is formulated for brushing it should need very little fussing around to make it work well.

The highest quality brushes you can afford will make the job a great deal easier.

Practice on your mother-in-law's car before you try it on your Power Wagon.

Sales people may be of little help because they are still trying to unload that obsolete spray unit in the back of the shop.
