If you have a problem with the pilot bearing and this was not the cause of the long input shaft, you can have whatever profile you want put on the end of the input shaft when it is shortened. So find a pilot bearing that fits the crank, then have the machinist make the input shaft fit the bearing when it is shortened.

Again, I had this done for a whopping $70, IIRC. No adapters, no other special parts, just the custom input shaft for $70. Which is easily replicated at a later date if necessary.

But, you do need to be sure of what's wrong before you try to make it right.
