One thing you must watch with spacing a transmission back is the throwout bearing. Will it still be supported throughout its entire range of motion? If you move the trans away from the flywheel and pressure plate, you are also moving away the sleeve around the input shaft that the throwout bearing rides on.
Plus there is the shifter tower location which will have moved aft. And any linkage mounted on the side of the transmission. And a PTO as well if present. And any possible interference with body/frame members/etc.
This is a viable method and 3/4" isn't much, but sometimes...
