I stripped down my M37, everything that I could take off, doors, top, spare, seats, and put 7.50 tires and rims on it to get it to weight under 5000 lbs. Once its titled it will never change, but this was for a new title.
If I was building or restoring a truck I would take it to the scales with the bed off to get weighed. DMV does not know any different
