Sorry to say that but you it was said twice before. Do not rent a Uhaul trailer they are not up to the job and they will not let you put that much weight on it. They are made for cars. You can rent trailers but look at 10,000# or 12,000# trailers. Make sure that they have good electric brakes and that they are working. NO SURGE BRAKES!!! Get yourself a good brake controller. In my area nobody rents 10,000# trailers but at the California rally many guys down there were able to rent them. Must be a liability thing up here.
Your F150 will not do it. I have an F350 and it is rated for 10,000# maximum trailer towing weight. My WC 53 and trailer is 9,000#. I do have a solid trailer so it weighs in a 3,500#. Look at you owners manual. The brakes are also not big enough on your F150.
You will also need a load leveling hitch. It makes a big difference on tag along trailers.
Not good news from your stand point. Do it right and do not exceed the limits of the towing vehicle or the trailer. If anything happens you do not want to be in court trying to defend the fact that you exceeded they limits in some manner. You will end up paying for it for the rest of your life as they will epty your bank account for life. I would rather be under all my limits. They if something happens I am simply stating that I took and exceeded all precautions and did my due dillignece. In this drag them into court society I would rather be simly stating that I did my due dilligence.
Sorry but that is my 2 cents which I have stated here many times. Norm, Paul and other who do serious towing would agree without any questions.
