Braden MU2 with capstan

Is the capstan a fairly rare option? I don't see many of them in the pictures of our Power Wagons. How much would it add to the value of the winch setup? Other than using it to set poles etc, what was the primary purpose for them and would it be adviseable to put one on other than for just asthetics? I was made made aware of a 1950 Power Wagon up here for sale with that option and was thinking if I were to buy it to just swap it out with the one on my 49. Thanks to all.
