Hi Norm,
Actually if Benedict Arnold hadnt been hampered by other generals not acting with the same dedication to the cause as he had, and he had reached Quebec City about 10 days sooner, he would have captured Quebec and the rest of Canada would have quickly fallen into the hands of the Continental Congress. As it was, the British were able to get reinforcements in place just before his arrival. Before that the city was very lightly defended and would have fallen easily. Arnolds push up the Kennebeck river to Quebec makes for some incredible reading. For that matter, any reading about him is interesting. After reading about him, you cant help but see why he turned in the end. Even so, without his contributions during the Revolution, from his exploits on Lake Champlain on through the pivotal battle of Saratoga, WE would probably be stopping about now for a spot of tea and be talking on the Morris Minor forum!
Tim
