Ask your machine shop if they remove scale, they do. They use the same chemicals (or modern wonder brews) to do the cleaning, in a giant dishwasher with jets spraying in all the holes, from lots of angles. With a 5 hp pump, it's like a firehose inside the jetter.If thats not good enough, make an 'above ground pool'. Build a frame work, line with plastic, fill with phosphoric acid solution ('lime dissolver' from the big box store), soak for a week. It will dissolve rust, and turn the iron black, a black phosphate rust resistant coating.
