Jim, The rivets alone, is the best way to go. When bonded with glue, the shoes must first be heated to about 900 degrees. That ain't so good in itself. Then, the glue layer acts as an insulating layer of heat transfer from the pads to the metal. Then what happens when the shoes heat way up again...? The pads and metal can part. It ain't exactly as cut and dried as this, but over the life of the parts...you get the idea, This is not only Will's opinion, but a consensus among aftermarket brake people to whom I refer. The bonded shoes are prevelant today because of lower mfg. cost. And rivets do tear up drums. In an old stock vehicle, this all may not mean so much to brake performance, because we are dealing with '30's braking technology, anyhow.
Thanx Will Liebscher

PS. I will be coming to Cinti one of these days in the near future. When I grew up in SW Ohio, I never concieved of Mil Vehicles or Dodges or Old Cars or Hot Rods. Got into all that here in Ca. since the mid '70's. Interesting to see this new bent on my old home.
