At the risk of sounding "shallow" and being a kill-joy, may I ask why the seemingly sudden dire of some to know so much about so many? You don't have to be paranoid to desire privacy and feel somewhat
apprehensive about so many giving up info about themselves for a seemingly innocent PW
registry. I mean, even the national gun registry on the surface sounds good. What will it benefit me to know everyone that owns a PW around the country? I would be apprehensive if I owned a PW valued at $10,000 or higher. If they steal cars worth only half of that it is very possible our PWs could become the new targets as the muscle cars and Harleys used to be. I prefer the "Hey, Is any body out there near me, -or got 4-sale, or looking for.... And leave it up to them to make contact.
I don't have a problem with anyone who wants to give out any info about themselves they choose. I am just apprehensive about what others might do with that info, private
or govermental.
Will it be a private registry for only registered PW owners or open to the public to view? Will the wrong type of person buy a
junker PW and use the registry to come steal parts from me to get his truck running? Will
I come home from vacation or a weekend to find parts missing and wonder if every item like it I see offered for sale is mine?
There is big money in certain PW parts, a few
dozen bolts removed and a mint pair of front and rear fenders with mint headlight buckets would net some thief a possible quick $2,000.
I'm sorry if I sound negative but I just wanted to add a little food for thought.
