Linksys makes a great low-cost easy to configure firewall. Even better now that Cisco owns them. I personally have an SMC Barricade. Either will run about 60-80 dollars.

For antivirus, I'm partial to Panda AV. Kaspersky is also extremely good. Rumor has it that Microsoft is trying to purchase Network Associates (McAfee) so their fate is currently uncertain. I'm not fond of Norton, but I do like Symantec (Corporate Edition).
