There's a line in a Leonard Cohen song that goes, "Everybody's got that broken feeling like their father or their dog just died". I look at my dog, who I of course think is the best dog there ever was, and I realize that while she's in the prime of life now, she'll probably die before I'm noticeably older and I know it will be as hard as when my father died. I won't repeat all the things that are good about a good dog, since you know them. I think dogs know how to get along with people better than most people do. You have my deepest sympathy and condolences.
