I know how you feel. I've had dogs since I was a toddler and it tears my heart out when one of them passes away. We moved to the country 12 years ago and brought an old gentle pit bull named Daisy with us. She had the mildest personality of any dog I've seen. My boys played and pulled her ears to no end but she never lost her temper. One night, she just disappeared. We never knew what happened or found her remains. My now 17 year old son still talks about her like it was yesterday as he was about 8 when it happened. The reason it hurt him so much is that he had a bad experience with a dog when he was 4 and Daisy was how he overcame his fears. Pets can become a very important of one's life.
