1958 W100 question (oil pan L6)

What location is the sump on the oil pan on the flathead 230, should the sump be a front or rear drop? My parts book shows rear drop pan for 1958, and front drop for 1959. Can these oil pans be used in either direction? What direction are other 1958 W100 owners trucks?
