...the split rim disappeared even before trial lawyers came about, on the trail repairs were such a hassle. Going into the SoCal deserts, Canyon Lands, or into Baja, we might have 4-6 flats a day, there were no tire shops out there and we were driving cross country. 10 lbs of Camel Kits and a couple of tire spoons were all we needed. Good thing it was 35 years before OSHA! = )
