Bear in mind the 1 ton CUCV trucks have 4.56 gears, and the stock trans is a turbo 400 3 speed with NO OD and no lockup, meaning you will be winding out and sucking fuel like mad at 70 MPH. Also, most of these trucks had the weak NP208 Chain drive case. So you would have to upgrade in order to get what youd really want or need. If you want a good highway speed, consider 3.73 Gears with a good healthy smallbock. If you really want a good chassis to use, find a 89-93 DODGE W-250 Cummins Diesel rolling chassis with the Dana 60 front, Dana 70 rear and even stouter NP205 Transfer case! They came in 3.08, 3.55 and 4.10 gears. Much better choices for highway than the CUCV.
