Yes they are pressed, or in this case hammered with a pilot so as not to damage the bushing. It is a tight fit but not enough to reduce the inside diameter of the bushing. Trust me. However I have installed the inside axle bushing with seal on oneside a few minutes ago. Axle is in now and feels good. It rotates freely and does not wiggle back and forth in the bushing so I guess it is ok. The leather seal was quite a snug fit so that could be the reason I can't feel the clearance in the bushing. Anyway I feel good about it and will not worry about it. By the way I decided not to put any oil groove in the bushing. I may not ever get 15,000 miles on her anyway. They are easy to replace anyway. I did coat the bushing and axle with Castrol syntec synthetic grease before installing.
