How long will a clutch disc last with one broken torsion spring?

When I started up my WC12 (1/2 ton Dodge pickup)I heard something metallic hit around the floor board near the transmission. I looked at the engine, and didn't see anything. The truck operated without any problems or strange noises. I did have to adjust the free pedal twice last month, and felt a strange pulsing in the clutch pedal, that soon went away.

When I got home tonite, I pulled the clutch cover off the transmission, and the end of a spring was in the clutch cover (about 3/8" long. I rotated the flywheel manually, and inspected everything I could see or get a thin screw driver to touch, and didn't see anything extrordinary. I figure that a piece of the torsion spring in the clutch disc broke off.

Two years ago (6,000 miles ago), I replaced the clutch disc, pressure plate, had the flywheel resurfaced, etc.

Thanks in advance.

dave
