I don't think that spyware is the direct cause of your issue. If you have Windows 2000 or XP, open a command (dos) window and type in "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes. Also clear out your history and temp files. If you still think you have spyware, look at the information below to help you out.

Some key indicators that you have spyware are:
1. Your computer slows down without reason.
2. Your home page changes from what you set it to.
3. You type something in a search engine and start to see pop up ads with products/services that you were searching for.
4. You have more than the default toolbars in Internet Explorer.
5. You use something like Incredimail.
6. You have installed a weatherbug or similar program.
7. You have installed a free game.
8. You remember going to a web page and seeing some sort of security warning, but thinking you needed to you clicked Yes or OK on the security warning.

So, if you think you have spyware, how the heck do you get rid of the stuff? There is no one product that works on everything, so it may take several products to finally get rid of the pests. Some of the products that I have used with success are:
1. AdAware.
2. Spybot.
3. Hijack This
4. CWShredder
5. Pest Patrol

While these are the tools I have have in my daily arsenal there are a number of other tools out there that work well too. In my opinion, these tools are just as important to a computer as antivirus software. Spyware is emerging as an even bigger threat to your privacy than viruses ever were.
