Brakes

I'm having brake trouble, it kind of acts like the master cylinder check valve isn't holding the 4-8 pounds pressure to maintain pedal feel. I think the cylinder it'self is in good shape cuz it will pressurize in 4-5 pumps, and will hold until my leg starts to ache pretty good. But the minute you let off the pressure (I'm assuming here) leaks past the check valve back to the resevoir. I've bled almost a gallon of fluid through the system, had all four tires off to check for leaks, had all the slave cylinders off, honed and put back together. Anybody have any ideas, before I spend the $200 plus for a new master cylinder??? (I also put a kit in the master cylinder)
