I had a 1/4" plate glass mirror about 3 feet square sitting on my porch that broke the same way. Long, very curvy cracks developed all over it and it broke into several pieces that looked like a big jigsaw puzzle. Nothing hit it or was pressing on it, but it was sitting in the hot sun. Glass has to be annealed slowly as it cools when it's made, and even so stresses get "frozen" into it. Most likely part of my mirror was in the sun and part was in the shade and the differential expansion was enough to push some built-in stress over the limit. Maybe something similar happened with your windshield. I don't think it could be air pressure from the cab being too tight. I've also heard of windshields cracking in subzero temperature in the winter when the defroster is first turned on high.
