Company A, 116th regiment went in on the first wave, the units that were supposed to be on their right and left landed out of position. Company A went in bassically by themselves...

I grew up in Lynchburg, VA about twenty miles from the site of this monument. My mother taught in the high school in Bedford... It is amazing what having this monument has done for the community...

When I was returning home in Raleigh, NC from visiting a cousin who lives just north of Culpepper, VA on June 6th I noticed that, once again, every sign on the shoulder of US29 that proclaimed it "The 29th Infantry Division Memorial Highway" had had three small US flags attached... This is from bassically the north side of the state all the way to the southern border...
