a system like Mile Marker uses on their hydraulic winches. They power the winch with the PS pump. I am running my MU-2 with hydraulic drive from my PS pump on the Carryall. Mile Marker uses electric valves to control the winch. I used a open center manual valve with controls in the cab and at the winch. Mile Marker has the Govt contract to replace all electric winches on Hummers with the PS driven hydraulic. Check out the Mile Marker web site www.milemarker.com. My Image event site under the Carryall album has a picture

I have done some pull tests compareing my Bumblebee shaft drive MU-2 against the Hydraulic driven MU-2 on My carryall. Power appears to be equal, however line speed is about 20% slower with the hydraulic. I plan to change the Char-Lynn Hydraulic motor to correct increase line speed. All you must remember and accept is that when you command the winch on, you loose all power steering during that period. One other thing, its worse that a Bear to get all the air out of the plumbing. Once its purged, its a sweet system.
