if the transfer case has 5 positions on the shifter. hi lock hi nuetral low lowlock it is a np 203the chaindrive. and if it is a 4 position shifter it is a np 205 if original.the 205 is a geardriven case and the 203 is chaindrive. don`t be afraid of a chaindrive if it works well it is a tough unit.
