Deuce-and-a-halfs actually use a submerged 28 volt punp of several amps. No oxygen, no bomb. The oxygen in the tank has all been displaced by fuel fumes, leaving none to explode. You can have a fire at the air/fuel interface though- did you all see the video of the gal in the synthetic sweater cause a spark at the filler? The spark was at the interface, where gas and air mix. The tank did not explode, only the fumes displaced by the incoming fuel. The same will happen if you toss a match at a bucket of gas- DON'T TRY IT!- it will explode above the bucket!

Does make me wonder how they fill the tanks in new cars at the factory though- purge with CO2? by tossing in a chip of dry ice?
