I think nickel welding would hold up, I've never welded an exhaust manifold but I did weld my furnace face plate which was cracked apart, and it's been fine for 20 years, I did it with an AC buzz box to boot. The trick with welding cast is to heat the piece up first before welding then let it cool down very slowly.
