the 6V cranking motor (starter) will work fine on a 12v system
there are special composition brushes made for this purpose - the shop that rebuilt mine
had them.
all early PWs came with "Jack Armstong" power steering which works fine & will get easier the more you use it - if however you need more assist vist "GOLD's GYM"
