I've used a freon tank converted with a NAPA kit for the last 18 years with no problems. It does loose a bit of air now after a couple of weeks. Probably the valve is getting worn. No matter. I squirreled two more tanks and will swap the kit to them.

Note that Federal Law prohibits refilling the tank with the ORIGINAL contents ie - don't refill with freon. It says nothing about refilling it with air. Also, these "not to be refilled" tanks are in common use per Federal guidelines as recovery tanks for spent freon. Go figure!

I've blown up many air tanks, freon tanks, propane tanks and other goodies in earlier times for 4th of July mayhem. All are pretty robust.

Am I worried? No.
