I haven't done it but I believe it can be done. I just looked at a 205 I have in pieces in my garage. You simply switch the rear output housing and rear flat bearing retainer covers. You also switch the rear output shaft down to the bottom. If it doesn't seem to want to fit, then do the following: use M37 parts. That is to say, use the M37 rear output housing and shaft in place of the flat cover and the gear just behind it. You could, if you wish, have an E-brake on your offset output 205. This brings up an important point: the only reason to do this is if you need a married transfer case hooked up to a different transmission. Strength-wise, they are identical. The only fundamental differences are the lack of a PTO cover on the M37 case and the offset output.
