My 1952 Power Wagon (M37), has always been stored outside without any special precautions and it has survived without any significant damage. The storage locations over the past 11 years were in California, both north and south, and in Colorado. The longest time that it wasn’t driven was about 18 months and that only required a battery charge to get it going. The only rust problem I’ve encountered is where water collects on the front fenders, just below the headlights. M37’s have a flat spot stamped into the fenders for a support bracket. Like most of the other responses, mice have been the most annoying problem and I solved that with rat poison. From my perspective, a Power Wagon that is stored under covered parking on a dirt floor is far better off then the great majority of the daily drivers. My recommendation, if you live in a dry climate, is to clean it thoroughly, top off all the fluid levels, disconnect the battery, put rat poison under the seats, and if possible place it on jack stands.
