I've noticed in all the photos of original Power Wagons in books that the bolts fastening the front bumpers to the frame and the license bracket to the bumper are silver. Were they stainless steel or what? Ive used grade eight bolts that are sort of brass colored or coated. When I etch these with acid prior to painting, they loose the color, and presumably some protection or hardening. Any thoughts? Grade five bolts look cheap (modern). Would like to do as close to original as possible.

Also, all of the wheel lugs were originally silver. I've heard they were nickle-coated like the split rings. Have seen some of my friends' rings powder-coated silver. Looks great. What about lugs?

Next, the winch chains all appear black. Have seen silver (Bill Garland's). What have others used? I was thinking of using Black Hammerite spray can. It worked well on my pintle hook.

Finally, what about the tailgate hinges and bolts. Were they body color or black, bolts painted or silver (stainless?) Thanks for indulging me!
