Okay folks, I’ll try to ask these questions without rambling too much.
I went and looked at the possible power wagon donor to make my townie 4wd, mainly interested in axle ratios.
The door data plates say: D400 S/N 146 155 0466 Rear axle cap. 11500
Rear 6.68 Chry RA115
There is no legible tag on the rear axle.
The front axle tag says 45-11 4.09 which service manual lists as W100
According to my service manual the D400 (2wd) came standard with a 6.28 rear.
I can’t find any 6.28 axles listed for 4wd.
Now for the question: Am I correct in assuming that both front and rear axles must be the same ratio in 4wd
or the truck would self destruct. Any of you know a sure-fire way to determine axle ratio without tearing it
apart and counting teeth? Any input greatly appreciated....Paul
