depending on what Satellite options you have loked at, The most expensive cost was the equipment that you have to buy. I think it was about $600 or maybe more. The monthly fee's were between $60 and $80 a month. Yeah it may seem expensive but I pay over 40 for cablemodem and speed does fluctuate with the amount of users in my neighborhood.
Another option you could have is via Cell phone. I know someone who surfs the web routinely with their laptop and cell phone. he could get close to 56k. Not sure what you cellular coverage/strength is in your neck of the woods.
